Haslimann Taylor invites Sir Terry Pratchett to create Wincanton ‘Walk of Fame’

Haslimann Taylor has worked with Sir Terry Pratchett OBE to create a Hollywood style walk of fame for client Taylor Wimpey at its Kingwell Rise new homes development in Wincanton.

The new homes development in the small Somerset town rose to fame this time last year when it unveiled Discworld-inspired road names in keeping with the town’s official twinning with the fictional city of Ankh-Morpork from the Discworld novels. Part of a creative launch campaign for the development, Treacle Mine Road and Peach Pie Street won a public vote in 2009 but since then Taylor Wimpey has gained council approval to name all of the roads at the development after Discworld with additions including Hen And Chickens Field, Morpork Street and Kinklebury Street.

Hundreds of Discworld fans, many in costume, descended on Kingwell Rise to see Sir Terry place his hands and signature into concrete at the development following other Discworld activities organised by the Discworld Emporium of Wincanton.

Anna Jester, account director at Haslimann Taylor said: “The Discworld campaign has generated fantastic coverage for Kingwell Rise, both regionally and nationally since its launch last year. It continues to appeal to the media and has been a great vehicle for building community relations in Wincanton.”

Richard Goad, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey, explained: “We were simply over the moon to have Sir Terry back at the development leaving another permanent mark on Kingwell Rise for current and future residents. Following the public vote last year, it seemed fitting to try to get approval on Discworld names for all of the roads at the development and we are thrilled that we did.”

Replica road names were signed by Sir Terry at the event and are planned for auction at the official Discworld convention in Birmingham in August. All proceeds, in addition to a further donation from Taylor Wimpey, will go to the Alzheimer's Research Trust, of which Sir Terry is a patron.

Cameron Edges Into The Lead As Drinkers Vote With Their Throats

Haslimann Taylor’s poll with a difference through Nicholson’s pubs shows Cameron has a marginal majority, as punters are sinking more pints with the Tory leader’s caricature on the pumps.

Early results from the Swig-o-Meter, which measures each party’s performance pint by pint, show that Cameron has 35% of the votes, while Clegg is following with 33% and Brown bringing up the rear with 32%.

The results from Nicholson’s Vote with Your Throat campaign that ran ahead of the last General Election correctly predicted a Labour victory, so the party leaders should pay attention to the pumps as May 6th draws closer.

Senior account manager Emma Howden said: “Gordon Brown may want to get down to a Nicholson’s pub for a few pints quickly! With last year’s campaign results being so accurate, it’s time for anyone in the Labour or Liberal Democrat camps to start voting with their throats!”

On the run up to the Election, Nicholson’s pubs across the country will be running the alternative polling station. To find your local ‘polling station’ visit

Haslimann Taylor Gets Drinkers Voting With Their Throat

Haslimann Taylor has launched an opinion poll with a difference for Nicholson’s pubs and is encouraging punters to vote with their throat.

The agency held a photocall at the Marquis of Granby in Westminster to unveil three separate party-coloured pumps bearing caricature faces of Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg, each linked to its own barrel of Fullers London Pride.

Drinkers at the historic collection of pubs will be able to check their party’s performance pint by pint on each pub’s resident Swig-O-Meter, which will be updated daily. The results from the Nicholson’s Swig-O-Meters nationwide will be collated to predict who will be victorious on May 6th.

Senior Account Manager Emma Howden said: “The Vote with Your Throat campaign has caught the attention of national journalists and provided some much needed light relief from the glut of serious election coverage.”

A Huge Slice Of Business News Coverage For Papa John's

Papa John’s Pizza hit the headlines recently after Haslimann Taylor was tasked with communicating the leading pizza and delivery chain’s Q4 results.

Haslimann Taylor secured an interview with Papa John’s UK Managing Director Ian Saunders on Radio 4 Today and also achieved coverage of its trading success on Sky News online, the Financial Times online and in The Times.

The leading pizza and takeaway delivery chain has achieved a two year like-for-like sales growth of almost 20 per cent after a reality TV powered fourth quarter helped cap off a record 2009.

Senior account executive at Haslimann Taylor Charlotte Pettitt said: “Papa John’s trading success followed a number of record weekends fuelled by the popularity of the X-Factor and Strictly Come Dancing. The media’s love of reality TV gave us the ideal platform to communicate Papa John’s excellent fourth quarter results and engage business editors with a positive news story.

“We’re now working on ensuring 2010 tops last year with a series of campaigns to celebrate Papa John’s 40 new store openings, as well as the launch of its Quality Control Centre in Milton Keynes, following a £5m investment.”

The company, which was founded in the USA in 1984, achieved an 8.6 per cent increase in like-for-like sales in Q4. This is the 16th consecutive quarter of comparative sales growth and helped Papa John’s end the year in 9.8 per cent growth.

Papa John’s overall performance has been recognised by industry body the Pizza, Pasta and Italian Food Association, who named Papa John’s as the Delivery Chain of the Year for the second consecutive year ahead of shortlisted rivals Domino’s and Pizza Hut.
